Because of recommendations from the Conservative government, Radio Canada International will be ceasing broadcast of shortwave radio around the world. RCI broadcast Canada news and programing around the world in various languages.

RCI was an important source of information in countries where media is heavily controlled by the state. China was already banning RCI’s website, but not shortwave radio.

RCI was probably the most efficient international radio station, costing tax payers 34 cents a year each.
